Hi everyone I had one of the best time of my life today because I have went to Malibu to go visit the Chumash people and learn their ways and also have fun with them. The first day we got there we entered there cove or village and they were singing a song, honestly I thought it was just a ordinary song but once I got the know the people it was actually a welcoming song. Once I was told that I really was touched on how they sang for us when we got there even though we didn’t even know them. Then when the day progressed they told us that we were going to do baskets and language and I was picked to go do language and I was like auughhh. But then it was very interesting and we sang a song it went, yum yum yum yum ,kepo kepo, hu hu hu, ishpaqiwo, ishpaq ishpaq.. And that’s the whole song and repeat it . Then I started to do basket and I thought it was ordinary weaving baskets but we made them out of abalone and it cool because I have never ever done baskets out of a shell! Then the next day we went surfing and boogie boarding it was a very new experience because I have never done any surfing at all it was haarddd anyways it was still fun. Then I felt the connection with the people and I actually called them family because I have felt the love they gave me and also the things they have provided us and the morning ceremonies 5 o’clock in the morning that’s nuts. Anyways there this guy name Nick hummingbird and he was the coolest guy I have ever meet and he is in charge of the plants that go on at the cove and let me tell you this he knows his stuff he knows how to abstracted the leaves and roots and also oils from the plants to get what he needs and that interest me and maybe I could learn his ways sometime when I see him down the road and I also promised him that I will show him a pic of the Great Oak Tree and he was stoked so I have to do that for him and I can call him brother because he treats me like one so I’m very proud of that and I want to give him a shout out! The last day was very sad because got up at 5 o’clock in the morning again but that’s not a bad thing it refreshed me while I did that so thank you Robert john for that and we went on the beach one last time together with my family and went back up and ate French toast I ate like 3 plates of French toast it was goooood and a shout out to the cooks and the guys who took care of the spirit fire. Then we packed up and went home it was very sad but not really because I know one day I will see all of them again. So THANK YOU CHUMASH FAMILY!
