During Pipeline 2013, I was able to do some incredible arts and crafts that are important to my culture. I made a clapper stick, a drum, an arrowhead, an arrow, and a basket. I wanted the final photo of my basket that I finished on Sunday because I’ve never made a basket as unique as this one. I have never used a shell like the one I used this weekend, nor pine needles. What made my basket so special was the fact that it was made in the Chumash Village in Malibu, California; a place so special and sacred. My heart jumped into this basket and told me to make handles, so I did. As I was making my basket, I kept thinking of my nieces at home who find an interest with the arts and crafts I do. I thought about their smiles and how happy they will be when they see my basket as well as my other crafts…especially my drum! I really miss my little girls and want to go home to see them, but I know God will give me the strength to continue and finish the program. In the meantime, here is the “special” basket I made this weekend that I love so much…

  1. So nice to see your beautiful basket– fill it with memories and bring it back FULLL for your nieces. They will benefit from your experiences at pipeline! Xoxo Camryn
