So I fell behind, and couldn’t update for a long time. Anyways, reflecting on everything on the past day just one word to describe this is amazing. I loved every bit of this week except waking up early but I can stand it… Today though, was just absolutely fantastic I enjoyed every minute of the boat ride and the 3-4 mile walk. Learning about native plants to Santa Cruz island. Seeing a giant pod of dolphins , that was amazing. That awesome sandwhich I ate..yummm!! I saw a fox for the first time!! (Same with the dolphins) a eagle ray and a lemon shark!!! I’ve never seen those in my entire life, well maybe in an aquarium but still this is real life not something you have to pay for. I loved this day to pieces and enjoyed every bit of water we drank and walked through.

Love from Santa Cruz Island, Dani.

P.S. I’m so excited for snorkeling and kayaking tomorrow!!!! But no doubt it has something to do with education but I’m seriously not complaining.:)

I want to thank the creator for today and for the days to come because in my heart I know they will be great. Today, my heart and mind just fell in love with our Shakespeare Class, it made me think of my future and kind of inserting this preview of sonnets into my life. Maybe it was the teacher being really funny but that’s what your decisions are supposed to be inspired by. People that help you decide whether or not you want to do things, even though they may not know they are helping you. Also, I decided what college I want to apply to or I just figured out what classes I want to take in college, that might change but right now I have a goal and that’s all I need.

Keep fear out of your life. Yours Truly, Dani.

My mom, when young was put into boarding school, all her brothers and sisters were, she barely talks about it but I can tell it effected her in a negative way. Today, when we talked about the movie , Hawaiian: Legend of Eddie Aikau, my ears perked up when they were talking about civil rights in Africa and how they didn’t get those rights till early 1990s, it dawned on me that even though Africans were there first and made there homes there, the English didn’t care they wanted the beauty and the ways of these Africans. The only thing is they didn’t want Africans to enjoy it with them. These Caucasian people didn’t want different and didn’t want others of a different skin color to be better then them. This is with every colored person, not just in Africa but also in the Americas. We were thrust into these religions and were conformed into this English way of life. I don’t blame them, even though many of us were broken in the process. Like the saying goes, everything happens for a reason, it was tough but we are strong and look at us now, coming together and building relationships with others across the US.

Natives Will Always Be Strong. Yours Truly, Dani.

First day of classes!! And it was pretty awesome even though I was half asleep throughout the day, haha. This evening, the movie we watched, not only about Eddie Aikau but explaining about the 49th state and how they cheated the Hawaiians into giving up there land, was so inspirational and i thought about the sovereignty us, Native Americans, have been through but we have to remember that we are strong and more powerful than we think. We have to respect our elders, parents, and everyone we come in contact with because they might be the only people that will care for us.

Stay fierce my friends. Yours truly, Dani.
