Body

Yesterday we went to Western University to see body organs from real people. we seen the hearts, brain, leg, and many other organs or body parts. We also got to see  dead body it was gross and it smelled bad

Learned

One day Cindi brought goats to the land so they can eat all the weeds that help stop the  good plants from growing and now that the goats ate all the bad plants its now easier for plants to grow so now the Natives have a sacred place where they plant all kinds of different sacred plants that we used back in the old days and we still use today but not as much as we use to use.  Before they created soap the Natives used a plant that they soaked in water till it got bubbly then they used it to wash clean themselves when they bathed. There’s a plant out there that was once on an island and one day they ate too many seeds and was on life support for a week they nearly almost died. Another thing I learned that there are many more difference sages that also smell very good. Not all animals are a menace to the garden the mole rat helps the garden by eating all the dried grass so the grass will continue growing. The Pomos are very well known for making Pomo baskets. It is acknowledged to be the most complete and detailed study of a single Native American basketry tradition. The plant that was most sacred to us Pomos was the Redwood trees.

New Experiences

The other day we went to a sacred garden and helped cleaned it up it was really hot afterwards but it felt good to help out a sacred garden.

Yesterday a teacher from my high school came to Pitzer to sing us songs and a little but about the drums it was nice seeing her and I had a good time when she was here.

Yesterday some people came to Pitzer College to teach us a warrior hula dance it was very neat and I like the way they dance even though it hard to learn.

The reason why I’m here at Pitzer College because I’m trying new experiences away from home and I want to learn more about other people cultures so I know there ways and I want to know more about college and the medical field.

Im really thankful  for the people coming to help us learn about other cultures (:

Help The Community

The way I would help make my community better is to get more activities and programs so that the teenagers have something to do other than drink and smoke.  I would help make fundraisers to make money to be able to provide the activity funds.

Western Union!!

1) I think an ideal physician patient relationship would be for the physician and patient to be able to get along and connect with each other.

2) The cultural information doctors should know about their patients is what they believe in and what their tribal cultural doesn’t allow for them to do because it’s against their beliefs.

3) The questions doctors should ask their Native patients what their beliefs are and how ask them how the doctor can work with beliefs to make the Native patient comfortable.

4) I’ve known my friends mom who had a bad experience with one of her old physicians he talked bad about her son and the sons father. She said it was more hurtful because the father was no longer with them. They do not use that physician anymore.
