On Saturday we went to Chaffey Cultural center and we helped fix up the garden. Later on that night Redcloud came. They put a concert on for us and it was really fun! Yesterday we walked to the farmers market in the Claremont Village and when we came back Ms.Josie came and sang with us. She had a beautiful voice and it was really great that all of us were standing in a big circle singing along with her. I have never been around these cultural songs and it was really powerful to me that all us were standing there together singing. After we had a Hula lesson from Jessica and Jana’s dad. It was soooo amazing learning a Hula routine from because especially because they hold the Hula so close to their heart and it was nice learing something about their Culture. Last night we watched “Alcatraz is not an Island”. It was interesting to me because I had no idea that Natives claimed part of the island. After we watched the Mars Rover Landing. It was cool because we were just at NASA learning about how long it took them to make this rover and their idea. Then we all sat in a circle for relfections. They asked ” Why are you here”. My response is ,I am here because I want to learn more about my culture and gain more knowledge and experience.
