Hello lol :D
Hello again bloggers of Pitzer Pipeline how’s it going good, awesome, cool super, anyways my day has been better because I got a little more sleep then I usually do when I’m a Pitzer because I’m constantly doing things but that’s not a bad thing because it keeps me going and get my mind on things in what I am doing. But today what we did was we got to do a SAT prep for about 3 hours and that’s a good things because it prepares me for the future when I do take it and I got a 7 out of 12 for a first time essay that I did know something’s I did know so that was a good news for me when she handed me back my test I was existed so that was cool then we got to make hour own traditional stories we get to make up we got a title and we have to make up a story why that happens to that certain animal we had to have a plot, theme, animals, a special song and a magic object. For example we had to make a story about why the owl only flies at night so our characters were a owl, little mice, and a snake. I’m going to tell the story in a short version, it started when the owl was flying through the desert he saw a grey dot and we swooped down on a little mice because he was looking for food but the mice didn’t want to get eaten and he told owl I will show u a place where u can get food but we need to find a plant call nightweet so the place turns dark because it only day there and the critters don’t come out in day so they travel through the forest and mountains and they find the plant they sing a song and take the plant out and it turned instantly dark then they herd something and a snake attacked little mice and the owl fought off the snake and owl found out the critters only come out at night. And that’s the story we made and know e are going to watch a clip from Rose Henry and thanks for reading!
Another Great Day At The Pipeline!d
Hello once again people from Pitzer college pipeline today was ok because I tried to get some sleep and I got an hour out of 12 hours of sleep I need lol so I’m pretty bummed and half asleep typing this. We went to western today and it was realllyyyy fun we got to learn about nutrition and how to eat healthy and stay fit to get the human body to keep it going. They told us about a guy who eats peanuts and apples in the morning and runs 10 miles each day ‘m thought this guy was nuts and he was young but he actually looks 50 and he’s 70 years old and I didn’t be leave it at all but some how I do. Then Dr. told us that we will be cooking at her house and we are going to cook today and what was cool was I like to cook time to time so I was stoked. So when we got to the place where we are cooking we started to figure out what we were going to make, we decided to make tortillas like our moms make it since we were in a group of three. Our first attempt was a failure because it was too much doughy then we made another and it had to much flour it was hard making a tortilla but it was a very fun experience to have and memory. Then we came back to college and did our regular routine. It was a very tiring day but also fun. Thank You
A NEW FAMILY ;D
Hi everyone I had one of the best time of my life today because I have went to Malibu to go visit the Chumash people and learn their ways and also have fun with them. The first day we got there we entered there cove or village and they were singing a song, honestly I thought it was just a ordinary song but once I got the know the people it was actually a welcoming song. Once I was told that I really was touched on how they sang for us when we got there even though we didn’t even know them. Then when the day progressed they told us that we were going to do baskets and language and I was picked to go do language and I was like auughhh. But then it was very interesting and we sang a song it went, yum yum yum yum ,kepo kepo, hu hu hu, ishpaqiwo, ishpaq ishpaq.. And that’s the whole song and repeat it . Then I started to do basket and I thought it was ordinary weaving baskets but we made them out of abalone and it cool because I have never ever done baskets out of a shell! Then the next day we went surfing and boogie boarding it was a very new experience because I have never done any surfing at all it was haarddd anyways it was still fun. Then I felt the connection with the people and I actually called them family because I have felt the love they gave me and also the things they have provided us and the morning ceremonies 5 o’clock in the morning that’s nuts. Anyways there this guy name Nick hummingbird and he was the coolest guy I have ever meet and he is in charge of the plants that go on at the cove and let me tell you this he knows his stuff he knows how to abstracted the leaves and roots and also oils from the plants to get what he needs and that interest me and maybe I could learn his ways sometime when I see him down the road and I also promised him that I will show him a pic of the Great Oak Tree and he was stoked so I have to do that for him and I can call him brother because he treats me like one so I’m very proud of that and I want to give him a shout out! The last day was very sad because got up at 5 o’clock in the morning again but that’s not a bad thing it refreshed me while I did that so thank you Robert john for that and we went on the beach one last time together with my family and went back up and ate French toast I ate like 3 plates of French toast it was goooood and a shout out to the cooks and the guys who took care of the spirit fire. Then we packed up and went home it was very sad but not really because I know one day I will see all of them again. So THANK YOU CHUMASH FAMILY!
CHOW!!!
Hello once again bloggers my name is Lucas Kenefick ;D you probably all ready know that…. Anyways once again Robertjohn his spirit is strong he helps us get through the wonderful morning. I really respect him because he gives us the wises stories that impress me and motivates me to get through the day. And I just want to say something about yoga mannn that stuff it hard I volunteer to go first for a hand stand but I end of doing a head stand and hitting my back on the wall whooo was that embarrassing but like robertjohn said you have to except that and go with it so I did and it was funny so don’t think embarrassment as a horrible thing just go along with it. And today we went to Western college and we got to draw blood but not really blood with was a silicon block and it had blue tubes simulating veins and blue water as blood and then we learn how to draw the blue water out of the silicon and also know how to assemble the needles even though it sounds grows it really isn’t it was kinda fun anyways I don’t think I’m going to be Phlebotomy witch is the people who do the IV’s if your dehydrated or the people who draw blood. Ok know we can stop talk about the grows stuff SAT’s woot I love that class because I bugg the heck out of the tutor it is sooooo funny but I don’t think she thought it was funny who cares its funny anyways thanks for reading this peace out ^.^.
The meaningful day ;D
TODAY WAS A AWESOME DAY WE GOT TO DO A LOT OF THINGS THIS DAY, For example today was a special day because people don,t get to make traditional drum from elk and it was a big privilege to get that opportunity to make some. The drum is apart of your heart beat so when ever you think of a drum think of your heart beat because your heart beat in connected to the beat of the drum so take that into consideration! Us natives also got to meet WOLF that means teacher in his native tongue, he a expert survivalist this guy teaches the marines to survive in Afghanistan know that’s pretty hardcore if i say so myself. Hes lived in the winter freezing cold for 1 years and two months know i could last 1 day. I could not be leave how many uses natural plants could have it could go to medicine all the way to cheats a bullet hole in your body know that’s CRAZY!!! So if you see a plant don’t just think of it as a plant think of it as your life is on the line and u can use that to help you. But i can’t forget to mention flint knapping that is so fun making arrow head that’s AMAZING! Just imagine our ancestor use to do that and know we are still using the same method today! and know i will leave you with a picture of a pry-mantis have a nice DAY!!!
My Life
Hello my name is Lucas Kenefick I am 16 years old and currently a softmore at Great Oak High school in Temecula California. I’m also from Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians; I am the Jr Tribal council for hour youth at Pechanga. I also play sport such as Lacrosse. I was born in the United Kingdom because my father was in the military then after two years moved to the reservation at Pechanga. Through out the years on the reservation I went to a school on the reservation for five in half years. I was the first athlete of the year and also to reach 100 miles through out the year at Chamakilawish, then graduated in 5th grade and also the first to graduate at that school and I was very proud of those achievements. I am very competitive and will strive to get what I want to achieve. What I want to do when I get to college or work up to college is to major in arts and graphic designing. I was raised on the reservation so I was into motorcycles and playing in the dirt. Then we moved in the neighborhood and know I was introduced into the technology world as I like to call it but it will never get in the world of my culture and my family. I’m still currently learning my native language even though is hard to learn I still work my hardest to learn it. When I was in elementary school I knew a lot in my native language and use to know it fluently but when I went to middle school I stopped knowing how to speak it through out the years. But still strive to learn my culture
