Need a lil more sleep!!!

What a day I am so tired to day I am happy that I got to take a nap it help a lot ha. Man I did not know how much work it takes to go camping. But it was a lot of fun I would do it again. We went camping for 3 days and we went camping at one of the Chumash Villages. The village is in Malibu and it’s really beautiful there. We got to do a lot of thing like we learn about native plants and how it can help you I thought that was really cool. Another thing we did was waking up at 5am every day when we where there at the village to see the sun come up!!!Image

Fun Weekend

Today I had fun even though we lost Capryl:[ (she didn’t die or anything she just went home) I miss her. Its not really the same without her here.  Even though she’s eating El Tap without me:( not fair. We get stuck with kinda the same food everyday and she’s over there eating the best Mexican food ever!! I did have fun at the chumash village with Mati and Chistina and sara and jenna and kayleen. Even though waves were brutal it was fun trying to surf (even though me and Capryl almost died trying to get out there.) and boggie boarding was way more easier than surfing that’s all I have to say about that. And the seashell basket weaving was hard my hand kept on getting a cramp and it also didn’t help that it was super cold and all I had brought was ONE pair of pants which was not fun even though it was hot during the day it was super cold at night and Thanks to Jackie we finally had a fire that wasn’t burnt out in the morning even though Jenna did a good job the first night. And I really wish that they had showers but it was okay even though it was really cold in the morning.ImageImage

My New Family ♥c’:

Everyone in this photo means the world to me! Their my new family now , going to Chummash made me realize how wonderful life is and how important family & culture are. I learn a lot from my new brothers & sisters , to always be loving and be kind , if you kind to one another you’ll get it back. i really loved how they welcomed into their village with love & happiness! I love surfing it was really fun c:
i ;earned so much new stuff about my culture & a different tribes traditions , it was so amazing!
i want to go back with my family so show them how amazing the vibe is , and how beautiful the place is , also how much you can learn from going their.
i just can’t wait to see them next year ^.^
i really miss the nights there!!
all the girls and i would always have a conversion with whoever would be lighting our fire that night , it was fun. it was something to look forward during the day and most of all the sleep! Lol
but yeah i had an amazing time there , well not even though amazing doesn’t even explain it all but yeah i miss everyone there 😦

Starting the day off at 5:30 to do sunrise was a struggle, but today was remarkable because we all got to raise the sun. Even though it took two hours by the time the sun finally came out I felt so energized and happy to experience it. Today at Western University was fun. We learned a lot of new information about nutrition and fitness. We also got to do some hands on cooking which was really awesome because we all went in there not knowing what we were going to cook and we eventually made very tasty food so now ending the night we be amazing because we all get to go to bed on time! Image

I definitely miss my Chumash family ❤

todayyy

This morning we had a sunrise ceremony with Robert John and Jimmy Blue Eyes. We had to wake up at 5 so I was very tired, but it felt good to pray to the sun and mother earth. Later, we went to Western University and learned about nutrition and fitness. I learned that it is really important to eat right and exercise everyday to stay fit and healthy. I had a really great day today with everyone!

I miss the Chumash Village especially the ceremony night when the family’s and the elders came. We got to spend time with them and show them what we have learned by singing for them with our clapper sticks and drums. It was really funny seeing everyone have a great time while waiting for our families.

FOOD!!!!!!!!

The food from the chumash people was really good. Even though we waked up early, got sunburned and got sand in some sand in our stuff, we were never starving. On the last day the bacon for our breakfast was ready right when we were about to leave. We all just grab a good hand full for our two-hour drive home. Even though none of us had a legit bed, we ate like we were at home. 🙂Image

The End Of A Great Weekend

(Chumash Village): Complete Fun! I want to go back so badly even though the shower next to the beach was VERY COLD! I did feel like I was Bear Grylls for roughing it out for 3 days. Also the Food.. Sooo good reminds me of back home. Another thing I wanted to bring up was surfing for the first time EVER! It was super duper fun and I am going to try it again some other time in the future. Saying see you later too the Chumash people was hard due to the fact that they felt like family and I will miss them until I come back to the Village: D

Arts and Crafts

During Pipeline 2013, I was able to do some incredible arts and crafts that are important to my culture. I made a clapper stick, a drum, an arrowhead, an arrow, and a basket. I wanted the final photo of my basket that I finished on Sunday because I’ve never made a basket as unique as this one. I have never used a shell like the one I used this weekend, nor pine needles. What made my basket so special was the fact that it was made in the Chumash Village in Malibu, California; a place so special and sacred. My heart jumped into this basket and told me to make handles, so I did. As I was making my basket, I kept thinking of my nieces at home who find an interest with the arts and crafts I do. I thought about their smiles and how happy they will be when they see my basket as well as my other crafts…especially my drum! I really miss my little girls and want to go home to see them, but I know God will give me the strength to continue and finish the program. In the meantime, here is the “special” basket I made this weekend that I love so much…
