Third day and more to come

Its been my third day here and for it being the third day I learned quite a lot. For example, in our Aztec Math class we learned about square roots, division, and decimal place. Since all of us were half asleep the teacher told everyone that we were having class outside, which sparked the class, awakening us, which brought our attention to learn. He also taught us songs with numbers and a dance with it while he was playing music, we started singing or at least trying. It made the class very fun and enjoyable to take part of.

Day Two, awesome

Today has been an extremely inspirational day for me. First, we had a really great Aztec math class. Its always good to improve your skills with the nepohuatzintzin. After we had a really good academic writing class, which I need in order to improve my descriptive writing. After was probably the highlight of the day. We went in to the cadaver lab. Before and after Elder Robert John talked to us and after we all participated in a great ceremony so that we don’t go back with anything that shouldn’t be taken back. I learned a lot in the labs and it has greatly inspired me to continue walking my path in to medicine. After that we went back to class and talked about the surfing movie, it was pretty interesting. It got me even more excited to go serving, especially since now I know more about the actual history.

Gross Anatomy Lab and More!

Today we went to western university and participated in a Gross Anatomy. I was here at the program last year, which at that time I also participated in the lab. This time however I asked more questions and was more involved, which is a experience that I won’t forget. This lab is a one in a life time opportunity that I’m glad that every one entered the lab even though they had their doubt’s. I especially found it interesting since I’m considering a career in the health field. We continued our Aztec math class, which now knowing more about it, I will definitely use it in my math class. We also continued our discussion on the politics of surfing, in which we had a awesome discussion, about the overall view of what happened and we expanded on what we learned, over all it was a good day, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store tomorrow.

3rd day

This program continues to amaze me love the people favorite part was when we went to see the human body in real life we got to hold the heart it was amazing the people donate there bodies to science its awesome. Im looking forward to the future bros💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚👌

Day 2 Dun Dun <<<(CSI Sound)

All I have to say is Amazing today was a dream come true it was like a glimpse into the future . So grateful I got this opportunity to do the cadaver lab. I am also very thankful for the people who gave their bodies to science because without them that would not be possible. Aztec math and writing was not as exciting but still very informative and I am also glad I can earn a new type of math and ex and on my writing. Today was another successful day in the wonderful world of pitzer

P.s
We NEED to surf sooner or I wanna do it in my free time for sure when we do learn it

Cadavers

It was the second time of seeing the cadavers since last year at Pitzer Pipeline. There were people that were a little nervous of seeing limbs of corpses. When everyone left they were just fine, some people left the cadaver room for a little bit but they came back to participate.

#PEACHESFORLIFE

My mom, when young was put into boarding school, all her brothers and sisters were, she barely talks about it but I can tell it effected her in a negative way. Today, when we talked about the movie , Hawaiian: Legend of Eddie Aikau, my ears perked up when they were talking about civil rights in Africa and how they didn’t get those rights till early 1990s, it dawned on me that even though Africans were there first and made there homes there, the English didn’t care they wanted the beauty and the ways of these Africans. The only thing is they didn’t want Africans to enjoy it with them. These Caucasian people didn’t want different and didn’t want others of a different skin color to be better then them. This is with every colored person, not just in Africa but also in the Americas. We were thrust into these religions and were conformed into this English way of life. I don’t blame them, even though many of us were broken in the process. Like the saying goes, everything happens for a reason, it was tough but we are strong and look at us now, coming together and building relationships with others across the US.

Natives Will Always Be Strong. Yours Truly, Dani.

Today was another blessing from the creator. I had a lot of fun today. We started off the day with Aztec math. It was very confusing yet eye opening. After that we had writing, or an intro to writing I should say.  I always had a connection with writing. After that we went to Western university and it was very eye opening. Dr Tran talked about stuff that isn’t usually talked about. I never realized what our atmosphere carried. After that one of our elders taught us a new dance. I’m not a fan of dancing usually, but I’ll give this a try. It was very complicated for me to get, but I think I’ll get it down the line. All in all, today was a good day and I hope tomorrow is just as good of a day as today was.

Great day!

Today was a great day, just a sample of what’s to come. The Aztec math was great. The nepo is just an example of the amazing ingenuity the original people had, and it blows my mind every time. Math is my favorite subject after all. The academic writing is something I really look forward to simply because I know it’s something I can improve on greatly. Visiting Western University is always something I look forward to, because I want to be a surgeon when I grow up. WesternU has really tailored to my interests and now I’m considering, seriously considering attending WesternU. I had some strong feelings towards the use of the mice in the labs, but I shared those feelings during reflection tonight. All I can say is that I respect all life, and it hurts me to know, death, literal death occurs to innocent beings due to us. Moving forward, the danza was great and I really appreciate Vincent putting time in to teaching all of us something so meaningful. I have some knowledge in danza, having participated in a few powwows and ceremonies with my school. Its always nice to learn more from others, such as Vincent. The movie was awesome. At first I really didn’t feel like sitting down and watching a movie, but I was instantly stuck to it. I felt some strong feelings during the movie, but listening to Robert John speak really helped my straighten out those feelings. I always get extremely focused when an elder speaks, because there is so much wisdom, it would be a shame to not listen.
