1) I tried to enjoy it all, but the past was coming back in my head. A strong and spiritual man once wore that Headdress, it shouldn’t be there. It was taken, just like most of Native Culture. Im not throwing any shots, but those memories are there. They aren’t gonna leave my mind ever, Im hopeful and prepared in my mind that someday all the pain and sorrow will slowly leave my people and that every “Artifact” will be returned. Letting go of those lost souls, those Native Ancestors that are looking down upon all of us young Native People and giving us the strength to push through the struggles and fight to find our full culture again.
2) I actually want to attend Haskell Indian Nations University, I know they have programs and majors that include American Indian studies. That’s how I am going to include that part of me! Im gonna follow a path that I know has always been for me.
3) This day has been fascinating, exciting, and a huge learning experience. Realizing that the past really did demolish most of are culture. It hit me like a truck, even when I knew the stories. I still felt that pain in my heart, but over all i’m glad they are protected even if they aren’t meant to be there.
Kat thank you very much for your post! I have to say that everything that you said I fully agree with. People like you are going to turn our nations around and bring them together for the greater good of humanity. I’m so proud of you and the progress you will make as a strong young native women.
Yakkookay (Thank you).

Hi Kat! You could also think about this day as those ancestors being remembered and honored again even if for a brief minute today. Visiting the museum gave you resolve right?
