hahahai’msohilarioushahaha

I live in a house. And that house lives in a town. And that town lives in a county. And that county lives in a state. And that state lives in a country. And that country lives on the Earth.

I have a big community. Obviously. My ego takes up most of it. hahahaimsohilarioushahaha

In my community, I want to help by doing what I have been. Helping the younger kids in it grow up into good people. I helped raise two little girls, one’s abouyt 12 and the other 8, and they’re both very spiritually connected to everything, they love animals and plants, and they enjoy doing activites outside more then inside. THough I was not directly responsible for these intersts of their’s, I did help by encourging to go biking and other exercise with a grin.

The only problem with my involvement in their lives is that when I told them about Pipeline and being there from 8 AM to 9 PM (“Have fun with your curfews, suckers! I’m going home! >D “)

They aren’t happy. xD

hahaha,ifeelsthelove.

My Community-Alex

I wanna help my community by making it safer, and I am going to make it safer by going to the women center and talking to the director and asking if I could help make the streets safer for all the children and elders walking around at night. My father could bring his community activist to help change our community in a whole because we all tend to walk with cautiously down the street and being afraid of getting  jumped or getting killed. My community really needs help and i will try my best to change it.

Uranium

This is what is dangerous to us Navajo

In 1948, The United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) announced it would be the sole purchaser of any uranium mined in the United States. The AEC would not mine the uranium; it contracted with private mining companies for the product.  The Navajo Nation encompasses portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, making their reservation a key area for uranium mining; it had more than 1000 mines in the reservation. As work was scarce on and near the reservation, many Navajo men would travel miles to work in a mine, sometimes taking their family with them.

Private industry’s treatment of the Navajo workers was poor, according to recent standards: companies failed to educate workers on precautionary measures, did not install sufficient engineering controls, such as adequate ventilation; and did not provide sufficient safety equipment to protect workers to the known dangers related to the mines. The Navajo were never told of the radiation effects, and did not have a word for it in their language. Many Navajo did not speak English and trusted the uranium companies to have their interests in mind. Navajo workers and residents have felt betrayed as the results of the studies became known, as well as the long delays by companies and the US government to try to prevent the damage, and to pay compensation.

My scared community

The issues on my  community faced today cause poverty, pain ,anger, lack of knowlegde of there culutre and traditional ways. These issues are not enough support from  one another, like family and around the community. Another problem would be the lack of social suport and parenting for younger Native youth. My passion is to create a strong united community with the knowledge of there culture and traditional ways. This will lead to a safe community  and communtication with one another. Also this helps provide programs like culture centers, schools, summer programs, more jobs, physical active  with Native youth, adults.

Alysha’s Positive Assets

Personal assets that I listed were: trilingual (English, Navajo, and Latin), dedication, friendliness, leadership, and wide range of interests. Assets that I listed for my family and community were: strong, committed, open (to new ideas and people), responsibility, and supportive. My community and I can contribute to other communities using these assets in many ways. One way we could contribute is by being friendly to other people who are struggling and open ourselves to new people, new situations, and new ideas. Another way we could contribute is be strong and committed to support others and feel better around each other and around new people. The final way we can contribute is through communication; we can communicate with each other to help understand one another and make changes if we need to. One thing that I do as a Student Senator at my school is volunteer work and community service work. We either pick up trash in our school district, have a food drive, or go to the Ronald McDonald House and Soup Kitchen to feed the homeless. Doing these activites make me feel good because it makes me feel needed or important to others, and without me, they would have starved another day, but instead, they got to eat a wonderful meal.
