Being on Indian Time stinks

The hardest thing, like, on the planet for me is being on time.

And I mean that by trying to be on time, without a gigantic clock staring at me in the face.

I know the boys complain about the lack of time for reading the book, Scalpel and the Silver Bear, but, man, the girls are the ones you should feel sorry. Not ONLY did they have to read the book, but we’ve got to make and finish a shawl by Saturday.

Have you ever made a shawl?

Mine from last year is STILL UNFINISHED.

But anyway, I’m working on my shawl right? With Jenna and Shea in their dorm, and the plastic needle is too giant for my teeny-tiny holes in there, and I hear my phone go off for a text message, and I turn it on and…

We’re not even out of the door, and we’re nine minutes late for our next class.

And yeah… that ended up happening like two more times. I think I ran a full mile today.

Dude, I was, and still am, wiped.

I apologize to Mr. Ramak Fazel, you’re a great photographer and speaker, for repeatedly dozing off and then jerking back up; I had an actual reason why I did.

I’m on Indian Time swag, and it is SO NOT FUN.

Let’s see, what else… we did stories today. We did story-telling class, and I had to be the main character, Owl, and I am fine if you ask me to act something out, I’m okay with that…

But, dude, I STINK AT IT.

I’m shocked anyone even laughed at my acting. I thought ya’ll would be looking at me like I had a third hand attached to my half-sunburned forehead.

(no, really… HALF of it is sunburned. just half.)

And then, Gina (and Jackie), I love you, but, honey. I look awful in every picture I have ever taken, so I will continue to make faces at the camera. My mentors have taught me well. If that’s going to happen, I might as well intentialy make it look awful.

Annnnndddddd…

Eeyup.

I think I covered it all: Indian time stinks, I stink at acting, and my pictures will always have me puffing out my cheeks and giving you the stink eye.

Consider my low-self esteem relatively heightened.

the stinky skunk!!!

Will we had to do a story to day and my group did not do that good its because Robert want to be the boss that’s why we did not do that good! But it was fun doing the story thing! The story was about how the skunk got its white line on him and it got on him by taking this cup up the hill to get water and he was so dirty that it clean a spot of his back leaving him a white clean line! The story start with the people not having water and the animals want to help the people get water so there was 3 animals at first there was the old owl, coyote, and a roadrunner whey all pick the roadrunner to go up the hill first so he took the cup and went up the hill first and when he got there! There was a mount lion and start to fight with him so the roadrunner ran a way and when he got back down the hill he look down and see that all his feathers on his lags where gone!! So he told the old owl that he couldn’t do it so he gave the cup back to the owl! So the owl look to the coyote and said it’s your turn try to sneak your way up there! So the coyote took the cup and went up the hill and when he got there he seen the mount lion siting there so the coyote went up to him and tried to sneak around him but it did not work and the coyote ran a way back down the hill and he lost his confidence and he told the old owl he cant do it! So the old owl seen this dirty black skunk and the owl went to the skunk and ask him if he could get water from the top of the hill and the skunk ask why do u want me to go no one likes me I stink and I am dirty! The owl said I know you can do it so the skunk said ok he took the cup up the hill and there was the mount lion siting there waiting and the skunk went up to him and sprayed him and it made the mount lion run a way so the skunk put the cup of water on his back and took it down the hill and gave it to the old owl and when he took the cup off it left a clean white spot on his back that’s how the skunk got the white line on his back!

Items

(Robert John And His Items): Todays morning class was very interesting due to the fact of the items that were brought in are very cool! My favorite item was the mini traditional lacrosse stick that I saw right as all the items were brought out! Unfortunately I did not get the details about it how Robert acquired this. But another thing that was cool was the tomahawk peace pipe that was the really interesting Robert John said it was use for “making peace” or showing an “act of war” towards the opposing side! Today this was my highlight and the program with Jimmy and Robert was very fun and humorous: D

Our Ap!!!

Aaron, Addison, Sean Paul, and I had to stay in this small Ap. In the daytime it was awesome because we got to just hang out and play music, but when it was dark we had to sleep with no fire. The big Ap for boys had a fire but we couldn’t have a fire because ours was too small. We didn’t care because we just stayed up for a while and then go to bed whenever we got tired. Event though that small Ap was cold, us four guys really kicked back in there. Image

Last blogging session

In the morning we meet with Robertjohn and he showed us an exhibit of sacred items he’s acquired throughout his life

Later we split into groups and came up with our own native stories. My group had to make a story about how the rattlesnake got his rattle and act it out. The result was pretty well received by everyone else I suppose.

It is a shame to see this program coming to an end.

I still miss the Chumash village so much!

Lost In A Dream….

Lost In A Dream…

Sleepy and tried of the ragged runs of the schedule, I’m lost in to worlds. Sleeping and the waking. Mornings are not my thing, but I can manage. Listening to my elders and speakers today they all have something in relation, bring a helping hand to our native community. That’s are purpose as native people, we try to bring our two senses and help restore our pride and…. That’s for us to continue and share our knowledge to bring back the Native American tribes, culture and education. Education and culture is the two important, useful strength we carry and not just Native Americans too. Then listening to these important words and daydreaming at the same time with an open my mind burst all these crazy ideas. Then the rest are personal and saddening so don’t ask me. So just want say that peace out!!!!!!
