Well,

I am very honored to be involved in this pipeline program with all of the students, mentors, elders, speakers, and especially Scott. I’d like to thank the students for being so fun, enthusiastic, cooperative, and above all respectful. You have all begun a part of your journey through life which will either heal you or hurt you.Elders, you are kind, wise, and full of surprise. You always have something fascinating to say and another thing to have us ponder about. Thank you so much for your wisdom and love. Speakers and teachers, you are making the subjects very fascinating, I am learning a lot. You have all broadened my mind. Thank you!

Scott Scoggins, BAMMMMMM!  The last few weeks have been amazing working with you. I appreciate your care, love, and friendship you have bestowed on me. Thank you so much for allowing me to be apart the program I am super happy to have helped you. I plan to be here next year to follow up and become a mentor.

Mentors, you’re all wonderful. I am glad to have created a friendship with all of you. You are all unique in your own way. Each and everyone of you have something to give to the program. It wouldn’t be a pipeline without you guys. I will miss you all after tomorrow. I love everyone I have met thank you all for making a huge impact in my life.

Sincerely,

Sensory Explosion

🔥My eyes are sleepy, yet I hesitate to close them; there is too much beauty. Spinning, singing, dancing, weeping, pulsing, breathing, sharing dreaming. The heat from the day still warms our bodies at night. Street lights and shooting stars; we know who we are. We are alive. The waxing moon rises, like the thumb nail of a loving hand, tracing the Universe across a timeless sky. My beautiful love, will you dream with me tonight? You–who in the words of a great poet, treads on the ground when she walks. Today was one for the history books! Shakespeare sonnets, Aztec Math, discussing emergent intelligence as adaptation in an ever evolving Multiverse both self organizing and self aware–all in a days work at Native Pipeline!! We also greeted the Sun with a friendship dance in the morning (hugs!!!) and sang to the moon at night. We even had president Trombley show her support by visiting our class and committing to assist Native Youth on their academic journeys. As if that wasn’t cool enough, the icing on the cake was when we celebrated Jessica’s birthday 😛 and when I heard David and Jonathan use words like “competitive individualism,” “commodification,” and “politics of disposability” without batting an eye. It feels good to know our students are learning the power dynamics behind “production” and “efficiency” and most importantly, how these means are used as self-serving ends for a select few. It is also empowering to watch lightbulbs go off when students realize science, rather than be objective, is culturally relative. We are learning to value our cultural ceremonies as communal technologies that enable us to access knowledge and relate to the natural world in a good way. I hope the students learn to value their heritage as Native people and use their “living” or applied philosophies to make this world a safer, happier, healthier place for all our relations. (Oh and that musical jam sesh was awesome! You’re the best David!) 💜✌️Violet 20140731-000920-560314.jpg

Another awesome day

Today was another great day as expected. Aztec math is getting more complicated with every class, but just as much more fun too! Today during academic writing the class participated in an interesting conversation about grieving and reasoning. Many interesting things were said and I gave my opinion as well. Some parts felt heated, but it was all with the good intention of expanding our understanding of the universe. After, we had a Shakespeare class. The instructor was really an amazing enthusiastic and fun person. He kept everyone engaged and with open ears. That class was a great experience, I really enjoyed it. By this point of the day it felt as if we’ve spent all day in doors so it was a wonderful feeling to step out in to the sunshine. Then we danced a bit with Tata Vincent. It was fun and I think everyone felt good vibes from it. To end the day we had about an hour of free time. Everyone did their own thing. I ran with Pedro and some of my peers. It was fun and a good work out. Now its late but I’m devoted to completing my Aztec math homework. Can’t wait for tomorrow!

To be or not to be is the question??

Sonnets
Its a rhythm or a rhyme that go together in a small paragraph. Well that’d what I learned today to say so but the Shakespeare class was so interesting and I had some good laughs and so did the class. The sonnets where broken down by each sentence, some where brutality sad or upsetting and some are just really lovey dovey . The professor was quite the comedian, he was a very, very interesting person to have someone to teach us about Shakespeare …Over all it was a very productive day.

#PEACHESFORLIFE

I want to thank the creator for today and for the days to come because in my heart I know they will be great. Today, my heart and mind just fell in love with our Shakespeare Class, it made me think of my future and kind of inserting this preview of sonnets into my life. Maybe it was the teacher being really funny but that’s what your decisions are supposed to be inspired by. People that help you decide whether or not you want to do things, even though they may not know they are helping you. Also, I decided what college I want to apply to or I just figured out what classes I want to take in college, that might change but right now I have a goal and that’s all I need.

Keep fear out of your life. Yours Truly, Dani.

A wonderful day for Trisha

I loved today I got so much free time everyone was giving off positive energy but for me I was tired of sitting at the desk for 1-3 hours in the same classroom and I’m a more hands on person that loves the outside. 😳

Poetry, Philosophy, and College information.

The best part of the day was listen to the professor talk about the Shakespeare poetry, the way he taught us about it was an amazing experience that makes me want to read more sonnets by Shakespeare!  The book were reading really opens my mind about native science which I find really cool. Today we also were able to talk with the admissions people about college, which has helped me a little since I’ve been walked through the process before, but it was really nice to know what pitzer looks for in a student. The end🙋

Good Day!

Today was a very good day I enjoyed the math today and I was happy today! I wasn’t really into the math when I first got here but today was fun doing it! I also am now thinking about going to The University Of Redlands! It seems like a really great college to go to I definitely would! I am! I guess I could get used to this weather if I want to go to the University Of Redlands because it sounds great! -MacKayla!

Shakespeare

One of the classes was talking about Shakespeare’s sonnets that he wrote. The teacher that was leading that class was hilarious due to his awesome humor. The way he read the sonnet had me engaged in the topic with his animated humor.
