what I know about my culture

I never realized that my Hawaiian culture would mean so much to me and my family, when my dad came to pitzer to teach my class I felt bad for not dancing hula anymore and also not paying attention to my dad when he teach his classes. I know that I carry something very special and I should continue learning more about it and understanding it. I want to show Grandma and Grandpa what I can be, and what I can Accomplish. I want to learn my language, I want to teach my children and my grandchildren.

Tomorrow – Michael

I’m super excited to be visiting Pechanga tomorrow. I’ve been talking to Nick about how great this will be and how will we be representing the tribe. I can’t wait to show you all my rez!

Hopefully we can go around the Great oak 🙂

Tree Squirrel

Tree Squirrel

I get my wish to be a squirrel after all Christa.
For the ones who don’t know a few days ago I saw a squirrel leap from a wall to a tree with such confidence. It went RAWR and latched on to the tree. So I told Christa and she went Rwrrrrra, so I now that one day I’ll be a squirrel which happens to be that day. Lolz.

DJ Hydroe~Alex

As I was sitting there while DJ Hydroe was scratching on the tables. It reminded me of what I really want to do in the future and that is be a music producer. I going to buy a table and start my career as I leave the pipeline with new knowledge.

I’m a Gossip Guuuurl ★

I got to go to a garden, again! I love going to gardens!  And for the first time, EVER, we got to go without having to do any free labor! :’D I was so friggin’ happy at that. Of course, Jessie and Micah throwing me outta’ the car was not cool, but whatever.

I love it here. Usually, my once-a-month sweatlodge at Dr. B’s house is my only Native Proud area to go to, and during the summer, we stop in fear of causing a fire.
Now I got a new place to hang out with my Native peeps!
I got a place to freely express my culture!
To learn about new ones!
And share snuff!
hahahaha, “snuff” x3
See yah’ white bread neighborhood! Nya! I AM NOT ALONE!! MY CULTURE IS NOT DEAD YET! >D

the power has all gone to my head now
please beware.

AAAANNNNNYWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS.

Okay. Talking ’bout my mentors. My main mentor is Mariah. Mariah is weird: she’s the immature big sister one minute, the mature mother of the dorm the next. Not nessacarily a bad thing, but STIIIIILLLLL MAAAAAAAN.

There’s Alejandro. Whose name I have no idea how to spell.  He is funny, and he drives the party car we call “Moby Dick” cuz it’s a giant white car. And Moby Dick is a giant white whale. Hahahaha, we’re so clever.

There’s Manny, who apparently thinks I’m hilarious but doesn’t like to spin with me. He’s cool. But I like spppppiiiinin’ man. I like spining. ;~;

There’s Camryn, whose a hippie. Sorta’. Kinda’. She’s a hippie that’s not a hippie, let’s go with that. Plus, she’s wicked good at taking out splinters. One of her most favored talents voted by the ever-so-awesome Kayleen.

There’s Nick, who has hair like Tintin. (http://blog.neonmonster.com/wp-content/uploads/tintin11.jpg) I don’t talk to Nick that much, but he’s the main DJ of the Moby Dick ride and picks out good songs, so I like him for that and his hair at the very least! 😀

NOW I’M GONNA TELL YA’LL ABOUT OUR PHOTOGRAPHER-PERSON-THING, CALLED MICAH.

Micah, in the most simplist terms, looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. (http://www.drawinghowtodraw.com/stepbystepdrawinglessons/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/shaggy-400×400.png), but with, you know, a bun/ponytail thing going on. I looooove bugging Micah.

Well, maybe not bug, but I’m a little sister, so I see everything I do as bugging my peeps. But I do like bugging my friends. So whatevs and chizz. 😀

gossip girl theme song starts playing in my head.

Nuuuuuuu, bad music, baaaaaaad!!! //flails around arms in tears.

Let’s save the Earth, everybody!
It’s the only planet with chocolate and chizz!!

Yesterday

Yesterday, we went to the LA Historical Park. I learned that the salt bush is edible, healthy and for sore feet, if you boil water, put salt leaves in there and put your feet in the water, your feet will heal. I also learned a lot about mother nature and how to appreciate it and not take advantage of it.

Traveling to Los Angeles-Alysha

Yesterday was the hottest day I’ve experienced in California…106 degrees!! It was so hot when we were trying to improve on the Native garden. We spent about two hours on Pitzer’s Native Garden. Some of us were planting new trees, while the rest of us were pulling out dead grass with a shovel. Gardening combined with heat is not fun, it is frustrating. After we gardened, we ate lunch, had free time, then headed off to L.A.

It took about 45 minutes to get from Pitzer to Los Angeles. All of us were under the impression that we would go to a museum or in the center of L.A., when we really went to another Native Garden. This time, instead of gardening, we took a tour of the garden and learned of all the Native plants that grow in the garden. I ended up getting bumps and red spots on my skin because I was allergic to many of the plants that surrounded us. Aside from all my allergic reactions, my favorite plant was the lavender bush because it smelt so nice and calmed me down right away. The weather cooled down as it got closer to dinner, and after dinner, we circled up and sang songs to end the night. As we drove back to Pitzer, Ashley and Fabian called the radio station to win tickets for Trey Songz tickets. They ended up winning four tickets, but when the phone was being passed around, the phone hung up and Ashley screamed because she had lost the tickets that she won.

Yesterday was a fun day, even though some of us experienced sad things (like Ashley), but it was enjoyable. Five days left…. 😩
