Another Fantastic Day

By: TyVon Greyeyes

Just as any other day at Pitzer it was fantastic because the lessons taught here are very well thought out and they may help with future problems like we have been learning how to write a proper essay for college, Blogging, and Math. I also learned how we can involve ourselves into social movements to better our lives for the long run and also for the ones that will come after us which has me thinking that when I am of age I want to do some of these movements to better many communities and regions. The experiences might have me come back again next so that I can experience this program again because it is just so fun here. Well I am thankful for the Elders, Mentors and the Staff are doing such a great job at keeping us entertained which I am thankful for and also blessed to be participating in this great program, So if the Elders, Mentors or the Staff reads this I want to personally thank you.

Another Day at Pitzer

by: Tyvon Greyeyes

As we sadly approach the ending of the program the teaching of everything gets more exciting and interesting like for example the lessons of Aztec Math, Rehearsing and Learning new songs, etc. The amount of knowledge is so large and learning about it makes me think about most of it such as Aztec Math how we use the nepohualtzintzin abacus is so simple yet complex it is very amazing how it works, also how we sing songs that have so much meaning with every passing word I can almost feel the large amount of pride and determination also with every passing word which gives me hope for the future. This program makes me feel as if I am at a home away from home because my bond with everyone grow everyday and so for I am enjoying it, so that is all I have to say for today.35226159453_7a3731b854_z.jpg.

Wishtoyo

by: Tyvon Greyeyes

I want to point out first that Wishtoyo was very beautiful mostly due to its people and the scenic view of the ocean and the village which was a very nice experience that I will certainly remember for a very long time. At Wishtoyo we learned so much like the culture and tradition of the Chumash people that is very touching because they have so much respect and grateful for everything they have and they love what they have which is very rare to see. We also learned some fun activities like making bracelets, necklaces, learning sacred geometry, surfing, and so much more all of these activities have created a strong bond with everyone of us, to me we are all family even if we aren’t blood related  we are spiritually related. My experiences here at this program are indescribably amazing which I have never experienced at any other program, So for whoever reads this I thank you for reading what I am currently thinking about.

A Great Day

by: Tyvon Greyeyes

As we progress with the program with each passing day it grows so much more interesting and the connection with the people grows stronger. My most favorite part of the day was during the Aztec Math which is actually very interesting and the concept of it is so creative just. Another part of the day I enjoyed was when we weaved the baskets which was my first time and I did an average job on making my own basket, my basket was not good but not bad at the same time so that is why I said it was an average job, I also put a lot of concentration and effort into making the basket. I am thankful for the people who are here and for the people who take care and educate us with each passing day.

My Most Favorite Summer Program

by: Tyvon

All the summer programs that I have attended I would have to say this is my favorite because it teaches a lot about responsibility, teamwork, friendship, and hard work. This program is very unique because of its location, and people which I’ve never experienced before. For everyday I stay here my connection with all the members, mentors, staff, and the elders of this program grows stronger. When I first arrived the people were very welcoming and full of excited energy like they’ve pride and effort into this and I can tell that the people, that work here and help us, love their jobs and they leave such a positive impact. Whenever we do any kind of work it is to continue building all four aspects, that I have mentioned earlier, like for example the elders and mentors put so much work into this program in order to make it such a positive place. This program has done so much in such little time to educate all of us so very much and that is why this is my most favorite summer program.

TyVon’s Review of “Spirit Game”

The movie Spirit Game was about the Iroquois playing the game Lacrosse a game that their ancestors have played for thousands of years but instead of playing people from their own area they take on teams on the international level which means playing against other countries. This movie had a strong effect on both the mind and body. As you watch this movie you instantly begin to feel their pride, determination and integrity throughout every second of the movie.

Tyvon’s First Day

It’s my very first time in California and my time here so far has been very exciting and it is quite a pleasure to visit this beautiful city and the land ,also this campus which is also known as Pitzer College; the campus is very unique it’s unlike any other campus I’ve been to this campus expresses so much in its murals, plants, and buildings. It is also my greatest pleasure to meet so many people they are very welcoming and so diverse, many of their traditions, tribes and the cultures that have gathered here are very beautiful, peaceful, and exquisite.
