Today was the same morning schedule as usual. We wake up at 6:30m and go to the indigenous games with Pacheco. In this session, we played a game called the chicken dance where we had to push each other out of a circle standing on one leg and holding one hand. We also threw sticks like if they were spears and played game where we had to roll stones in between to small sticks about two feet apart. After that we looked for five scholarships online using a website called FastWeb. We then went to a session involving Shakespeare and his poems. We compared how the poems could apply to our lives. We then traveled to Western U where we looked at a virtual Autonomy and then later looked at real human hearts, lungs, and kidneys. Finally we had theater class and it was pretty interesting when we had to become a snake, jaguar, eagle, or hurricane. After, we told a story to a partner and we had to make a sculpture that related to what we are told.

Robert’s fifth day
Ok so in the morning I woke up much better than yesterday, I was not tired and i was ready to go! We learned and played more indigenous games and I had a really fun time. We threw spears at some kind of tree and threw some more spears to see our distance. After we looked for scholarships and made a fastweb account which is a website for scholarships, then we shifted over and watched some indigenous short films, I liked two out of three. Later on in the day we traveled to Western University and leaned about the heart and some other things like the kidney. We were able feel hearts, lungs, and a kidney. Then we went to another part of Western University which was called “virtual reality lab”where on a big tablet we were able to set it up to take out the skin and see the heart(it was not a real person). Today was a little hard as well because it was my moms birthday and i felt really bad I could not be there with her.
Katherine Jefferson’s heart is as big as her fist
We went to Western U and dissected hearts, lungs, and kidneys from humans that have passed on. It was a learning experience, even though I have already had the opportunity to learn from and dissect organs at another college. Kaydee, my friend and teacher taught me some new things and refreshed my memory about how the heart works. I also got to go into the virtual lab and we all got to play with this giant touch screen computer that allowed us to look at fake body online. It was a great experience and I’m so thankful for all the mentors, teachers, and elders that take the time to come and share their teachings with us.
Day 5 – David
Today we did a lot we talked about Shakespeare and read poems which were good. WE went to Western U and they had a VR of a human body and we were able to see inside of it. Theatre was fun too with Courage and pretending to be snakes, jaguars, eagles, and hurricanes. Also telling our traditions on paper and making a sculpture of it. Jumping into the pool because the odds, but i did it willingly. Here is a gallery of everything that has happened.
Memories – Trisha
Overall I want to continue making memories with all these amazing unique people here in the program to learn new things and make new friends just like me.
To start out my day I learned new indigenous games that were more interactive and based on competition. After breakfast I searched for scholarships that I would be more interested in and the requirements to apply. Then we listened to Albert talk about Shakespeare which was so much information for me to process in one day. The travel to Western U was a lot of fun with my friends, it created even more memories. The lab we went to in the afternoon, the information that you need to know contains a lot of memory and studying to figure out which part of the body is which. Even though I’m not interested in anatomy today. Continue reading “Memories – Trisha”

Well I started my day off with getting up and bringing uncle to work, as soon as the kids heard my voice I heard my little sister say “hey Kayla is home.”😄 I than just sat around and then went down to the beach today, explored home, tomorrow I might go over to Lummi Island and hike there’s a beautiful place there to hike to, I called that my happy place cause I feel great after I come down, it’s as great as being out on the waters.💜 my last pictures are pictures of the top of the hike. It felt so good being home by the water today, I really just wanted to go on an adventure today but it’s going to have to wait until tomorrow.💜 I’m glad to be home, my day went pretty good, also feels good to drink nice cold water😄😂 eat whatever I want whenever I want lol. It’s only 63 here right now it’s suppose to get to 59 degrees tonight so I’m sleeping with my window open😂 it’s suppose to rain here Sunday I’m excited about that

Home.💜
Well it’s 11:20 pm and I’m just now going to get ready to jump on the plane, today actually wasn’t that bad I mean I waited here for 5 hours at Seatac airport and I just wandered around its actually not that bad here lots to do and wander to. I talked with everyone from home while I was here the whole time. Thought about my dad while I was here I’m just so excited to go home and see everyone, Marla (grandpas fiancé) told me my little sister is trying hard to stay awake to see me when I get home. I also can’t wait to be in my own bed, I actually got emotional sitting here at the airport just the tiniest things can trigger so many memories geez. I ate Chinese food and drank a Coca Cola and that was my dads favorite pop that’s all he ever drank so that brought back memories of just sitting with him drinking a Coke or kool aid😄 I’m just ready to go home I’m excited to finally go home, I’m sorry I left I just wasn’t feeling it this year, maybe I’ll be back to visit sometime though. I just want to thank Pitzer so much for giving me these amazing friends I’ve made along my journey it has definitely been fun and life changing meeting people from all over and hopefully I can keep in touch with all of them. Miss you guys already but I just had to be at home and grieve here by an environment I’m use to and comfortable around, surrounded by family.💜 once again I want to thank pitzer for EVERYTHING they have done for me it was an amazing experience.! Thanks so much.💜 I’m also glad I had the opportunity to meet Pamela and see Saginaw before I left. Really loved those two! They’re real inspirations!!💜🙏🏽
The moody day by Jade
Today was a nice day we started the day out with the Indigenous games with Hector Pacheco and I really enjoyed myself and had a great time also it was nice to start the day off with the Indigenous games and do those activities that he gave us. But after a while the heat started to get to me so there were times where I was getting frustrated and tired but I still tried to manage to have a positive attitude and to participate as much as I could.
Then I was really excited to dissect a cows eye because I know I won’t EVER have the opportunity or resource to dissect a cows eye and plus It’ll sound cool when I get to tell my friends and family that I got to dissect a cows eye man not a lot of people today my age get to say that they did that. But then it ended up being canceled but in the bright side on Wednesday I get to do a Sheep brain dissection so Im very excited to do that but yeah. Then we had the one and only ROSA PORTILLO class dude and her class today was an emotional rollercoaster you can say and I honestly didn’t think I was gonna feel the way I did but I did. But we were asked to bring something that showed or represented the person thats most important to us . So I decided to bring one of my traditional blouses and it reminded me of my mom and she is very important to me in so many ways. And she always wears those kind of blouses and every time we would go to Mexico she would always get us matching blouses. And I felt that what everybody had to say was really important and it brought us closer as a group as well. But also we did an activity with Kim Marcus and we got to shoot bow and arrows and we were able to make mesquite pancakes and they were really good and that was really fun and I was able to learn more about his culture as well. But overall it was a good day but yeah LLLAAATTTEEERRRRSSSS.
