Good Day

I guess so far the day has been okay. Yesterday was way better though! Being the ultimate ninajs in the ultimate hiding spots with everyone was so great!

ANYWAYS

We had a speaker who talked to us about sovereignty in tribes and I finally got the gist of what it really means and how conflicting of a word it is in itself. It’s crazy how difficult it is to define the word and try and understand it when there’s so many questions as to what it really means. I’m surprised I even understand it…ANYWAYS

After, we snapped a few pictures with Deron Marquez (thee speaker), a few people ran into the fountain..thing?

cool cool cool.

Western University

Today we visited Western University- our host Kellie really set up a great visit. We were able to practice a bit of medicine on one another- some of us enjoyed some muscle manipulating. Then we enjoyed lunch. After that we toured the vet school where students took turns practicing sutures, giving shots and examines to “animals.” Then it was time for the activity we all had talked the most about- an opportunity to examine real human body parts- like brains, lungs, and hearts. The best part (for me) was seeing the different hearts; one had a pacemaker in it still and another had calcification which had hardened the aorta valves. Another highlight was the sidewalk art around – they looked like real people doing things like reading papers, playing with dogs and painting. Finally we had a chance to speak with med students and hear what commitment it takes to practice medicine. Hopefully we will have some future medical students (Christa) 😉

Western University

Today, The Native Pipeline traveled to Western University of Health Science to go see the human anatomy, but I couldn’t watch it because i wasn’t old enough. Although, i couldn’t see the human anatomy i did get to a see a veterinarian lab and the school campus which is very amazing and i love there art work that they have there. I learned a whole lot about bones, muscles, and reflex points. I also learned about massages and how the muscles are used to work together and relax the body  it is very interesting but I am still sticking to mechanical engineering.
