My most favorite part with Kim Marcus was getting to contribute and help out with the class. His wife’s class was great and I learned so much about what I need to eat and how much I’m supposed to eat.

My job during native cooking was sifting the crushed acorn and making it into fine powder. I liked this job very much and didn’t want to trade stations.

We went to the mall and it was so fun. I felt like I was in my element even though I hate spending money, no matter how much I have. So I only bought a pizza!!!! (unhealthy I know) sunglasses, and a really beautiful phone case. And some really fantastic cookies!

P.S. Happy Birthday ALYSSSAAAAA!!!!! ❤ 😀

Today :]

My favorite part about cooking today with Kim Marcus would have to be when we were doing the processes because he told us what to do and what the uses were for the plant. My job in making wiiwish was grounding up the acorns. It is good protein and fat for the body even tho it may taste like dirt.

my birthday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. My favorite part of native cooking with Kim Marcus was that I got to make indian food that i have never seen before. I love to learn about the old indian ways and cooking. Learning about other indian cultures is always a good experience. Even tho we arent from the same tribe we all connect one way or another.

2. My job during the stations was to open the pinyons and put them in a bowl. It was beneficial to dietary health because you have to balance your foods with dairy, protein, vegetables, fruits, and grains.

Native Cooking/ and it’s Alyssa’s Birthday!!!! :)

1) The spiritual painting. Was my favorite, we all contributed in painting on the group rock and I thought it turned out beautiful!

2) I crushed the acorns up into powder for Kim’s community elders! So I wasn’t just helping Kim but I was helping his people 🙂

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALYSSA! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND IM SO GLAD I GOT TO SPEND THIS DAY WITH YOU! 😀

July 18th

1. My favorite part of native cooking was trying the chia in water. After the cooking I liked painting on the rocks even though I didn’t get to finish the second one.

2. During native cooking I was getting the pinyon nuts from the shell. Pinyon nuts were a part of some tribes healthy diets.

Day Seven

1) My favorite part of native cooking with Kim Marcus was the activity in which we rock painted. Everyone was painting quietly with respect. It seemed especially sacred, as Kim Marcus said it was. I had fun painting my rock, adding the designs that I felt most connected to.

2) I had several jobs, but my favorite job was skinning the manzanita seeds. It was my favorite because you could also eat the skin from the seed and it was very tasty. It was beneficial to the nutritious diet because you could make a healthy tea from the skins. The seeds could also be used to make rattles!

#LummiNation

1. I really liked learning about the native food and what the native people had and made back in the day. Especially when he said that the stuff that looked like putting was a treat to them. I’ve always wondered what our native people ate and how they made it. I also liked making the rock a seeing a few rocks that were made.

2. My job for the native cooking was to crack the pinyon nut with the rock and I had fun doing that. It took a lot of patience but me, Thelma, Alyssa, Trisha, and Joye cracked them open and I felt like it took a lot of patience todo it. But back at home the elders always tell us to have patience, every elder probably tells a young one that. It was beneficial and nutritious because they are nuts and they are grain I’m going to guess and they are our native peoples food, they ate it way back in the day, also good for your spirit if it’s a native traditional food.

3. My day was okay I started off tired and sleepy and it started raining and I got kind of excited but then I found out we weren’t going to the village and it made me really upset that we weren’t going. I felt really mad, sad , and upset because that was one of the main things I looked forward to was going to the wishtoyo. We still are going to go but it won’t be for as long as we were suppose to stay there. ): I hope we can just go and see them I really miss all of them and I looked forward to that…. sincerely- MacKayla S. A Week :D

1) During native cooking my favorite part with Kim Marcus was X_O learning new facts about labels and fats. It makes me wish for fish though!

2) I had to use a rock to crush the shell to get the seed I don’t remember what it is called. I never heard what they were used for but we just ate them.

Trisha’s Question

What is your favorite smell???

Cultural Day

Today my favorite part of native cooking with Kim Marcus was shaving the acorns with my best friend.

My job during the native cooking was to cut the prickly pairs and shave the acorns poisonous acid skin, and it was beneficial because the prickly pairs are healthy for your nutritious  diet.
