Blog Prompt Arlene

Hello everyone I’m Arlene. The reason I created those photos of me in the water and in the winter was I just like those places first of all and how anyone can be in that weather. One of the photos was me balancing on a rock with snow, a wolf sleeping, and I guess a dove about to fly away. The other one was of me just feeling the breeze near the beach. There was a dolphin jumping out of the water and a baby turtle coming into the water for the first time I guess.

Isaac’s blog

isaacThe photoshopping was fun. I got to learn how to learn how to photoshop some stuff into a picture. i think i could make more pictures and just have fun with it. also make more about native americans. i like the way mine came out. what the picture means to me is that i am connected to the water and eagles are a big part of my culture and a part of my tribe. My experience being here was fun and I will take what I learned and share it with my community. Also the mentors where awesome this year. They helped us with anything we needed and also made sure that we where focused and on task.

The last BLOG POST!!!!!!

Today was very fun I’d like to thank my elders, mentors teachers and peers for always being there for me and I enjoyed our two weeks together I hope that later on we can all come back together and have fun like a family. I hope that all of us can contribute a change this world so our elders, future elders, and families can live together in peace and harmony. The take aways from this experience was the amount of knowledge I gained that I can pass on to the next generation.

California native games7/18/19

Today was fun but sad at the same time knowing it was our last writing class, Mayan math class along with indigenous games for this year’s summer program. I ended up getting hit in the eye by a stick and the only thing that keep going through my mind was dang our ancestors would have  keep playing. So I was think “your only as strong as you will let yourself be” keep going you can do anything.

A BLOGGWE

I thank my mentor for giving me my water bottle when I forgot it. It was very fun being here because we got to do games and stuff and we even got to go to the beach and an island. I also want to thank all of the elders and teachers for teaching me stuff. I also learned a lot of things while I was here. I’m happy that I will be able to come here next year. this experience will help me in school because I’ll be able to talk in front of the class without being scared.

Blog Prompt: Thank You’s and Biggest Takeaways

Today is our final blogging session 😦 I know you are all so sad to hear it.

This blog post has two parts. Please respond to BOTH prompts.

1.  Write to your mentors, teachers, Elders and anyone else who has helped or guided you throughout these two weeks. Acknowledge them for what they did for you. Part of living life is getting help and saying Thank You.

2.  Write about your biggest takeaway from this experience.  What have you learned here and how will you apply this to your life back home, in school, etc….

If you need help remembering names or events, just ask!

If you have not yet written a statement about the photo you created in Photoshop…

Please write another post saying why you chose the different images you did, and what message are you trying to convey by putting these pieces together. What does this photo mean to you? How do you want people to feel or react, and what do you want them to understand when they see it?

Add a JPEG image of your photo to the post. Let us know when you are ready and we will help you export your photo as a JPEG.

Always A Puppet by James Fenelon

The tables have turned

In this photo I have edited in a picture of myself with materialistic wealth. Most people decide they want to have these things just by seeing the shallow happiness it brings. However, most people don’t realize what you have to lose to get “wealthy” in this society. The gem above my head is a reference to the game Sims which involved the player controlling different characters with gems over their heads. What this means in this context is that in order to get “wealthy” in this society you have to play by it’s rules and must be willing to lose some of your value systems. Realistically wealth can come in whatever you value which can be family, honesty, and helping others. Your value system is key to what you consider true wealth. Happiness can be attained without the procurement of materialistic objects.

Reflection of the last four days- Tlaloc

So much learning and reflecting has occurred in the duration of the past four days. Sessions of reflection were the talking circles with Auntie Julia, Basket Weaving with Auntie Sisquoc, and the drumming circle with Auntie Josie. The talking circles with Auntie Julia allowed me to spark ideas of self improvement towards the balance of every aspect of myself. Basket weaving with Auntie Sisquoc released my worries and enabled. me to reflect on what I’ve gained and how it can benefit the people of my community. The drum circle with Auntie Josie was so powerful and allowed everyone to be in unison.  The hearbeats of the drums with the complex and unsubtle showed the mixing of spirits and its happiness.
