AYYYE huitzilin is back O Whateva!

What’s up ya’ll today was my first day at the program due to attending another program at Pomona called PAYS(shout out to the loks). Lately I have been trying to let everything settle in and hopefully show my best potential here, as well as to connect with all the students and mentors the are participating this summer. I deeply would like to thank Scott and Violet and others for still letting me participate and accepting my application even though I was missing the whole first part of the programming love ya’ll!.

Rolando’s 8th day

Just got back from wishtoyo yesterday. It was my first time being there and on Limu island. We did a lot of fun things, like story telling/songs, snorkeling, kayaking, shucked abalone, and it gave us all a chance to bond with each other. The Island was very beautiful, and it was my first time being in the island, snorkeling, and we seen dolphins up close along the way. It was a very interesting experience. And I would definitely do it again.

Wishtoyo Trip ~ June 10-13, 2018 Arlene

28544926917_0157db8acc_z (1)During the Wishtoyo Trip, we had a lot of fun! We cooked together several meals and they were great. At night, we slept outside to look at the sky and also the Milky Way. In the Siliq, it had so much positive energy in it. Once I walked into the Siliq, all the stress and worries I had were like lifted off of me. We sang songs, told stories, and I feel like we bonded more. Channel Islands was beautiful! Kayaking is harder than it seems.

Mathew’s trip at Wishtoyo

When we went to Wishtoyo  all the kids had a energy that was so powerful that words can’t explain it. We spent 3 day’s there and we got to sing, go to the beach, and just got to hang out with one another and just got to get closer with one another. The second day we went to Limuw witch is a island that the Chumash lived on. We got to go snorkeling, kayaking and some of us got to gop on hikes.28544917717_daf0e6fd6c_z

Wishtoyo trip – Marissa Aranda

Wishtoyo to me was a very powerful place to surround yourself with positive energy. We were greeted with powerful songs and powerful energy. We then introduced ourselves to to Mati and his tribe. Over the days I felt like I bonded with more people and I felt like family to the Chumash. We had crazy adventures of going snorkeling and kayaking with people on the Channel Islands. Our boat ride back was also an adventure because we saw dolphins and whales. I was kind of upset because we were leaving soon and I did not want it to end. All the nights we laughed around the fire, looked at the stars, cried, sang, danced was like a dream. We all woke up and soaked in as much as we could as we all said our goodbyes sadly.

3 Days at Wishtoyo by: Jimmy

28544918397_3c46979d9a_z   The three day at Wishtoyo was fun and we all bond with each other. We went to Limuw and we went snorkeling and kayaking and we learn a lot then we left. We got back and we got abolone shells and made them into necklaces. Then we ate and had fun with the dogs. Then it was time to leave and we said what we liked about the place and we learned stuff. Then we did a group picture then ate and then we left back too Pitzer :(.

The 3 days at Wishtoyo! -Ben

The four days/three nights, that’s how long we have been having fun! The first day was great, they welcomed us with open arms and open hearts. As always the food was really great, the homemade meals made me not feel homesick. The 2nd day was AMAZING! I’ve never been to the Limuw Island before and it was so beautiful! The boat ride was an amazing experience. I saw animals that I wont see in Arizona. At the island I went snorkeling and kayaking. I had never done those two things and it was so much fun!  29542000398_7d34fd8524_z
