Day2@NAtiVe PiPeLiNe

Today was really hectic. Started the day good with a morning circle then went to breakfast. After that we learned blogging ( Thanks Gina!! ) and then after that we traveled to western university. There we listened to at least four different speakers/Lectures: Diabetes, nutrition, different aspects of the medical field, and how learning the anatomy of humans and animals can effect the animation of disney movies. that presentation was my favorite!

Also, on thing/charaistic i would want my doctor to have is to be funny and happy. It always makes me less nervous if the doctor or nurse is funny, stress-free, and happy in general because it makes me feel less nervous and feel as if there is nothing wrong with going to the doctor. At every doctor trip i have had a great experience because my dad would always act funny and like a clown. i can’t recall any bad experience with the doctor. I don’t really know anything that a doctor should know about my culture, maybe they can be more open to medical herbs for some patients.  After all that we got a tour of Scripps College; I have absolutely fell in love with their courtyards and gardens. The architecture of the buildings was also something that i really  liked.

And  now i can say Micheal is now my official camera/light man :D. Then we finished up the night with songs, drumming, and rattles and also an unexpected fire drill. Everything was a blast!!

Can’t wait for tomorrow! Good NIght!

Schedule Sneak Peak

The events and field trips that Scott has lined up for this summer’s Pipeline Program are pretty cool. I know you haven’t seen the schedule yet so I’m just gonna post some highlights for you to enjoy and be excited over now.

Some highlights:

A Visit to  NBC & Universal Studios

NBC Studio is known for being the home of the long-running The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Universal Studios, the oldest movie studio in the U.S., is one of the six major movie studios. Some famous movies/shows that came from Universal are: Jurassic Park, the Flinstones & the Bourne Series.

1st get together: College Fair “Take Action, Go to College”

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well and have settled back to your routines. It is hard to believe that it has only been less than a week since we last saw each other and I truly miss you all. Just to keep our momentum going we are now in the planning stages of our first get together set for Saturday, September 17. We will be leaving from Pitzer at 9:00 AM and traveling to the City of Commerce to participate in their College Fair. We will be returning to Pitzer no later than 5:00 PM as I would like to take a side trip to the Griffith Observatory (http://www.griffithobs.org/). Please pass this along to the others in our pipeline family and please confirm you will be able to go. Stay tune for more information.

Peace and many blessings to my pipeline family,

Universal Studios

Yesterday (8/2) was quite an adventure. We were able to go to Universal Studios with VIP passes.  So we got to talk with NBC Execs, and it was pretty cool, to say the very least.

Well we’ve only got about 2 more days left here at the Pitzer Pipeline.  I’ve been having nothing but fun here.  Okay I lied about that, there’s a lot of serious stuff going on, with all of these people reaching out to us, just to tell us how important we are to the future.  I’m definitely taking everything being said to me to heart, and I can’t wait to go home, so that I can start to live while keeping these important principles in mind.  At this point there’s just been so much that’s happened, I can’t begin to start to try and describe it.

thursday…

The last few days have been really fun with the few exceptions of me having to leave… I love being here and I hate when I have to leave to go to class. It seems like I leave when all the good things are planned… like today the youth are going to cal poly and I wont be there the whole time. Yet, at the same time I am happy to see my daughter and my husband in the morning before I come back. Last night was fun because we got to meet another group on campus… we had somewhat of a talent show which turned into a dance.

Yesterday, we went to the Southwest Museum and the Gene Autry Museum. I had a lot of fun learning about all the things that really going on in a museum. I learned how the different artifacts are taken care of and how they are preserved. There are many different people who work in Museums and I never knew what they did… but with the behind the scenes we got yesterday I know now. The Gene Autry Museum was really fun and very informational. After we were allowed to leave and explore by ourselves we took some funny pictures… They also provided us with a really good lunch. Which we all loved!!

I am sad that the pipeline is almost over because we won’t get to see everyone as much as we have been… I can’t wait to keep in touch tho.

The Final Hours Are Almost Here…

CrazyHorse
Cahuilla Basket

so these past two days we haven’t had the time to blog. I am loving this program I do not want to leave its just the greatest. We went to do community service which was a little surprise for me but it was nice helping someone out and putting a smile on their faces. We also went to a museum yesterday and saw all this artifacts and art. There was a lot about my culture and a lot to learn about it was stuff I didn’t know i liked it. After all of that we came back to Pitzer and had a talent show it was pretty fun even though i didn’t have a talent but its okay. I went jogging and learned some Karate. Then I had a long talk to my friend back home. Overall Im loving every single day and i would love to come back and hangout with my new interesting original friends.
