Yesterday we had an opportunity to learn about the human body and how it works, the names of the muscles and different movements of the bones. I learned what a heart looks like and that it is important to take care of it because the heart never stops or takes a break, its an involuntary organ that pumps blood all over the body continuously.
Health Career Choices
Yesterday, the cadaver lab at Western confirmed my interests in the medical field. For a second I was questioning if nursing was where I belonged but now I know it’s not. I think I want to be a doctor. One of the med students pointed out my interest in the movement and muscles of the amputated leg and suggested physical therapy. I liked that idea, I can add it to the many other things I hope to study. Maybe it isn’t the end of the world if I have to specialize in something. Maybe it is possible the I can do more than one thing. And maybe one day I won’t be so afraid of choosing one thing, maybe when I start studying medicine I’ll find my place.
Update!
Hello pipeline family
It has been a while since I have been on here and have updated everyone on myself… so I am doing so today. Summer is almost here and I am graduating on June 8th 2012 from Cal Poly Pomona. I am exicted as I have already set forth my plans and have been accepted in to a masters program (at UCLA in American Indian Studies). However, I would like to remind all of the high school students that your fears of entering into college are very similar to mine of entering in to a graduate program… a new school, new teachers, new peers… this is a time for all of us to take note that in the end when are all connected with that fear of new and unknown but with support (like the pipeline and family) we can all conquer our fears and accomplish our goals! I am looking forward to hearing about each of your stories about how and where you are headed because I know that you all are going to do great things!
NEW SCHOOL YEAR, NEW DREAMS
Hey Everybody! I hope you are all doing well and settling in to take on the new school year! I heard, for those of you who went, that the College fair was awesome! WHAT ELSE DID YOU DO? I am sorry I couldn’t make it, I was attending a Pitzer Faculty(the professors) retreat talking about DIVERSITY and Affirmative Action Issues! Real complicated stuff (I’m still trying to figure it out! lol). I hope you got to meet Carlos! He is a Pitzer Freshman who will be helping Scott and I and will also be a mentor to all of you! Carlos is an awesome dude! There will be some more Pitzer Students this year that will be joining us on our Pipeline Journey! Please LOOK out for Announcements from Us about the SAT, Cal Grants, FAFSA, and More! I am eager to see you all soon!
The Final Hours Are Almost Here…
so these past two days we haven’t had the time to blog. I am loving this program I do not want to leave its just the greatest. We went to do community service which was a little surprise for me but it was nice helping someone out and putting a smile on their faces. We also went to a museum yesterday and saw all this artifacts and art. There was a lot about my culture and a lot to learn about it was stuff I didn’t know i liked it. After all of that we came back to Pitzer and had a talent show it was pretty fun even though i didn’t have a talent but its okay. I went jogging and learned some Karate. Then I had a long talk to my friend back home. Overall Im loving every single day and i would love to come back and hangout with my new interesting original friends.
A lot has happened….
ok so far we had a lot of classes since universal studios. we had a discussion on immigration, we also took a field trip to the south-west museum in the L.A area where we got to get a behind the scenes look at what museums do to keep their artifact clean and in well condition. we also went to Gene Autry museum where we got to look at the native basket section of the museum. we have watched two movies, which way home and dream keeper. both were really awsome!! last night we had a talent show where we had singin, an air band, magic, dancing, and more singing 😀 . the whole thing was really fun, after the talent show we had a dance party where alex was the DJ 😛 everything was really fun!!
Universal Studios!
Yesterday was…. a very AWESOME day! I didn’t know we were going to Universal Studios! We had to get up early and… we were all tired and we fell asleep in the car…. and…. when I woke up…. I see that we were in Hollywood. And I also see that we were entering Universal Studios! I was all “Omggs!!!!! Universal!!” Some of my friends never been to Universal Studios! Man! It was awesome and we even got V.I.P passes!!! I thank Scott and I thank to Universal!! Wow! It was my first time having a V.I.P pass!! We toured around the studios! We even saw King Kong 360 in 3D! I loved it!! That was EPIC! And we even get to tour around Little Europe and the other buildings! We also went inside the set of ParentHood! I loved it! Everything inside of the house was very realistic! We also went to the prop studio and looked at the props! Haha! I laughed at one prop… and it was the raptor from Jurrasic Park and… it was all dressed up and it was called the GaGasarous! (I dunno how to spell it?) But… That was funny! I really loved the prop house! I just wanted to call it that. 😉 Annnyyywwaaayyss! We were on the rides and I wanted to go and see the House of Horrors!!!!! When we were approaching there… I saw this actor acting like Dracula and I wanted to take a pic with him. lol I can still feel the fangs right on my neck (On the left side. lol And this morning I can still feel it. lol) Anyways, we went to the House of Horrors, Fabian and Rebecca didn’t want to go in, I ran in there!! And it had all of these models of the Horror movies that Universal has made since the 60s? 50s? But… The House of Horrors was AMAZING! And I loved it! That is my favorite thus far. 😀 x)
We went to Universal Stud…….wait we went there?!?!
Yesterday was really fun, thanks to Scott not only did we get to talk to a lot of the people from universal/NBC studios but we got to get a V.I.P. tour of universal studios and got to go on the rides at the theme park. It was great to get an inside look at the props and costumes people use for movies and t.v. shows. We got to see the stage set where the show ‘ParentHood’ is filmed and we got to drive by the set where ‘Desperate House Wives’ is shot and also got to see the set where ‘War of the Worlds’ (the plane crash scene) was filmed. We also saw all the different cars to are famous in different films. we also got the visit different sets where some movies are filmed like ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ ‘Gladiator’ and much ,much ,much more. It was soooo coooooool!! 😀
Gang Violence Spikes on Indian Reservations
I think this video means a lot because it is speaking the truth. It is saying what people are not supposed to be doing when they could be using their free time committing to their tribe and learning something new, instead of wasting time gang-banging and trying to bully somebody.
Another dat at The Big P

Another day in The Native Pipeline Program, yesterday we got to sleep in for a longer time and that was so good and relaxing. We had a mixed up schedule but it was still fun we learned about the Hawaiian culture. We also learned how to make Indian Fried Bread that was very delicious and it just makes me feel like my grandmas home. Then, we went to go to do some salsa dancing and yoga which is very tiring and mind-relaxing. I also have to say I drew some drawings that took a bit of time but it was worth it because i know i put all my time and effort into it.
