Wow….

Yesterday was awesome!! We went to Pechanga and we were invitied to go see their sacred oak. At first I thought it was just a tall tree like the sequia ones. Til we walked into the tree and BOOM!!! The branches were formed together and than we learned that the branches were also supporting the tree. The tree bottom part was under ten feet of sand and was extended by three more feet. So in total the tree was 94 feet tall give or take a foot or two. Than after we went to building 3 and saw a arrowhead o.0 that was 10,000 years old!

Than after we went to D. Rega house and i helped her prepare the food which was something i found to be the best part of the day!!! I love her knivies because they were so sharp!!

This morning we met an padiliaa and it was amazing hearing her story!! Even though she went through all that drama she still found peace! Wow is the most powerful thing and human thing to do. Finding inner peace is something that has to be earned, that is what i learned

Today

Today.. An elder named Adelima spoke to us about Family and her life and how much our culture and heritage is important to all of how lives… That really touched me… She’s a very strong and wise elder. I thank her for those kind and honorable words!

From then til now.

Well for the past few days we all learned about Diabetes, the native plants to california, Drums, and met crystal lighting!

So in Diabetes we learn about Type I&II, which is something we thing is not that dangerous but after that, I know now that it is something that could kill alot of people!

The native plants to California was the most awesome!! We worked hard, and became closer to the earth. So after we worked we ate and for some reason the food tasted alot bettter!

The drum making was awesome too!! It was my first drum that i have ever made! So making it was one of a kind….

And meeting Crystal Lighting was cool. Well I didnt know I knew her for awhile like the movie she showed in or the games she lended her voice for PREY! Well PREY is the first video game to have a native american as a the main character, and she voiced the main character girlfriend. Sadly in the end of the game she died!! awwww…..

Western University

1. Big words… Let’s see… I dunno, really? I’m not interested in the medical feild but… All I know of is that it’s very importent to take care of and saving other lives.

2. They should underswtand of the dealings and situations Native Americans and Native Hawaiians are going through. Like… Help the sick and the wounded.

3. They should ask us of what’s going on with other Natives and why is this happening to them.

4. I had a good experience at Western U. I have learned that animators, also, used anatomy and have studied anatomy and use this study for their characters and how it functions them. I really LOVED that class. xDD I wanna study and animate my characters. 😛

All about Ashley and Pala

Hi my name is Ashley Arizaga. Growing up my culture wasn’t as important and was rarely brought up. As I began to get older I started to wonder more about my culture, so i began to ask my aunt, grandpa, and my grandma about it. My grandpa began to tell me that we are apart of the Pala band of mission brothers. It’s still a blur to me about what my tribe is all about and where we came from. Because of this camp it has made me to become curious about my traditions and my culture. I began to do some research on Bing and this is what I found:

Pala Band of Mission Brothers

Shane’s first blog and introduction

This is my first blog, I usually do video blog not blogging blogging. So I am a new person to Native Pipeline, my name is Shane John; I am from Shiprock, New Mexico. I come from a family of four including myself, I have three older sisters one of whom is adopted and one little brother. =D The place that I live is one of the biggest places to find Uranium and because of that, alot of companies try to get there hands on it. Sadly they do go to families that are struggling and get the land form them because they will give them cold hard cash. We have been asked a total of fives time within the past two years, but everything they come back they keep raising the prices. I mean it is tempting but we still say no…….

Bio- Christa McGowan

Hi my name is Christa and i am from the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. The reservation that my family is from is in Kansas, my grandma was born there and so was my mom but she only lived there for a few months and then moved to California. I was born in Covina, California and I am 16 years old. I am turning 17 on Thursday XD. I Have 2 brothers, Johnny who is 14 and Tommy who is 18.

Chief White Cloud

Hmm, a story about my tribe is that if you look on a map you can see that there are 2 reservations for the Iowa Tribe, one in Kansas/Nebraska and another in Oklahoma. the Northern and Southern Tribe. The reason this is is because when settlers moved us from the state of Iowa to Oklahoma there were two chiefs. They were twin brothers named White Cloud and No Heart, White Cloud wanted to move back north to Iowa and No Heart wanted to stay put. The Tribe ended up splitting up and  White Cloud moved North to Kansas and Nebraska because he got stopped half way there and was put on the reservation in the bottom right-hand corner of Kansas and the upper right-hand corner of Nebraska. Also my tribe’s name is the Ioway but you can also say Iowa.
